K-9 sniffs out crack cocaine, heroin during Arizona traffic stop

The sheriff’s office said deputies stopped the driver on Interstate 40 near the Cosnino Road exit on Friday.

COCONINO COUNTY, Ariz. — An official said a traffic stop at the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office turned into drug destruction Friday morning.

The sheriff’s office said deputies stopped the driver around 7:15am on Interstate 40 near the Cosnino Road exit.

We searched the vehicle using the Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. The K-9 stole another substance believed to be 27.6 grams of crack cocaine and 1.12 pounds of heroin, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver, 37-year-old Misael Lopez Cortaza, has been arrested, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
