A Super Bowl hero is gone.

under Two Seasons Following one of the best plays in franchise history, the Kansas City Chiefs made the move to waive the wide receiver. Kadarius Toney(Related article: New York Giants waive former Pro Bowler Allen Robinson: Report)

Toney completed a 65-yard punt return in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LVII to lead Kansas City to a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He also scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, when he was surrounded by Philadelphia players during the punt return but eventually broke free and stormed into the end zone. When the smoke cleared, he was tackled and taken down, but the play nonetheless led to a winning touchdown for the Chiefs.

Toney entered the NFL as a first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2021. Near the middle of the 2022 season, Toney was ultimately traded to Kansas City. The Chiefs gave up a third-round pick and a sixth-round pick to acquire Toney.

I think Kadarius Toney could get another opportunity down the road, but he'll need to place more emphasis on special teams, which is what the franchise will be counting on him to do going forward.
