Kate’s Dance took place at Yuma High School

First event honoring the Advocate Foundation

YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – A local high school and dance studio performed at Yuma High School’s Snyder Auditorium on Saturday. They paid tribute to late dance star Kate Kampa.

They also created a foundation in her memory known as Advocate. A non-profit organization dedicated to providing comfort and support to families in the community dealing with childhood cancer. Kate’s mother, Lily Campo, spoke further about the foundation’s efforts.

“The main thing we do at the Advocate Foundation is help families in need. Some families are going through the same journey that Kate went through,” Campo said.

Kampa, who died of childhood cancer in October 2020, was a prized dancer on the dance team at Yuma High School.

Additionally, the admission fee was $15 per visit. All proceeds were donated to the Advocate Foundation.

Dances also included modernized hip-hop and ballet to honor Campo.
