Support for Katherine Robertson in Alabama Attorney General Race
The Republican Attorney General’s Association has endorsed Katherine Robertson in the Alabama Attorney General’s Race, marking a notable expression of support from national organizations during the primary season.
According to RAGA, Robertson is the only candidate officially backed for the 2026 election cycle, a rarity in the past 27 years.
This group, once led by her boss, Attorney General Steve Marshall, emphasized that the work being done at the Alabama AG’s office is a national priority.
Marshall, who is also running for a US Senate seat, fully supports Robertson, who has served as his lead lawyer for years.
The issues at stake include Title IX, vaccine mandates, freedom of speech and religion, death obligation policies, ESG matters, and ongoing legal battles against liberal climate lawsuits.
“It’s quite a significant standard for RAGA to offer support in the primaries. Katherine has exceeded that and has an outstanding history of advocating for conservative principles throughout her career,” stated Chris Kobach, RAGA Chairman and Kansas Attorney General.
Adam Piper, RAGA’s executive director, called Robertson “a staunch advocate for the America First movement” and noted her commitment to leading in matters of freedom.
RAGA’s support aligns with Alabama’s legacy in conservative legal movements, recalling the state’s former Attorney General Bill Pryor’s role in establishing the organization.
However, Jay Mitchell, a former Alabama Supreme Court judge and leading candidate in the race, quickly responded that RAGA’s endorsement reflects an “out-of-state” influence on Alabama’s elections.
“More than 94% of my financial backing comes from everyday Alabamians who support President Trump’s agenda and Alabama values,” he claimed.
The financial connections to RAGA have become a focal point in the contest to succeed term-limited Steve Marshall in 2026.
Mitchell’s campaign has aimed to showcase the difference between Robertson’s “out-of-state” backing and his local support from across Alabama.
He’s emphasized endorsements from state organizations such as the Alabama Regional Electrical Association and the Alabama Truck Transport Association.
His team asserted that Robertson “has not received any support from Alabama groups,” implying that RAGA’s endorsement is an exception.
“The contrast between the candidates is evident. Our opponents chase money without regard for their positions; meanwhile, true conservatives in Alabama are backing Jay Mitchell,” stated Mitchell’s campaign manager.
His campaign also pointed to criticisms regarding large donations, highlighting what they described as “the biggest dark money contribution against MAGA in Alabama history,” along with a recent $150,000 contribution from Hugh Culverhouse.
Shortly after, Robertson collaborated with Culverhouse to direct a $250,000 donation to an Alabama organization focused on women and families.
Additionally, Mitchell’s team noted “funding from gambling interests,” including a $10,000 contribution from the Porch Creek Indians to Robertson’s campaign earlier this year.
