The leading candidate for the 2026 Alabama Attorney General’s race has kicked off their campaign early this June, as highlighted by an event post and an approval email sent out this week.
Katherine Robertson, who currently serves as a member of Attorney General Steve Marshall’s Supreme Council, has been gearing up for this run for some time.
“Katherine and Ryan Robertson are warmly invited to a reception and announcement featuring Attorney General Steve Marshall on Tuesday evening, June 10th at 6 p.m.,” reads the posted event details.
With a robust background that includes significant roles in the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Robertson brings considerable experience to the table.

The announcement was made Thursday afternoon, supported by renowned law enforcement figure and former Silakauga police chief Chris Carden. He sent an email to friends and supporters, lauding Robertson and highlighting the campaign’s kickoff event.
From his perspective, Carden stated, “I’ve never endorsed anyone like this before, and I’m not just doing it without conviction.” He emphasized the positive changes brought about by Marshall’s leadership, especially in the realm of law enforcement.
“With Steve Marshall as our Attorney General, the law enforcement landscape improved significantly. He built vital relationships and set new benchmarks, instilling enough confidence in Katherine Robertson for her to be named his chief attorney and closest advisor,” he noted.
Carden remarked, “Many are aware that Steve’s term is winding down; there’s a competitive race for Attorney General, so it’s important to discuss Katherine Robertson.” He shared details of her background, noting she grew up in Selma, Alabama, earned her degree from Auburn University, and graduated from the University of Alabama Law School. Starting her career at the U.S. Department of Justice two decades ago, she has proven to be a resilient advocate, standing strong alongside lobbyists and legislators to support Alabama’s law enforcement.

The fundraising phase for the 2026 campaign season kicked off last Monday, marking one year until Alabama’s Primary Election Day on May 19, 2026.
