Katie Britt recovering at home after ‘sudden onset of numbness’ in face, condition not life-threatening

Senator Katie Britt (R-Alabama) announced Monday night that she was undergoing outpatient treatment after feeling a “sudden numbness” in her face and was expected to take “several weeks” to recover. bottom.

Doctors believe the numbness is likely the result of swelling of the facial nerve after a viral infection, Britt said in a statement. She was admitted to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama, but she was released as not life-threatening.

“A UAB specialist then examined me in an outpatient setting and agreed on a prognosis and treatment plan,” Britt said in a statement. “My condition is not life-threatening and recovery could take weeks.

“I am grateful to the medical professionals who have provided excellent care, and my family and I are deeply grateful for your prayers,” she added.

The news came just days after the Senate went into a month-long recess in August, with lawmakers not planning to return to Washington until after Labor Day.

The 41-year-old Britt won his first term last year, but barely stood out during his first seven months in the Senate. But she was recently added to the leadership team of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R, Kentucky).

The young Alabama senator, who also serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, is due for a busy September to avoid a government shutdown and raise government funding for fiscal 2024.
