Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday joined all other Republican governors in recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month. Anti-Semitic incidents increase by 400% Across the country, the message from Governor Ivey and the 26 other Governors is resonating loudly.
“As governors and community leaders, we are honored to recognize the month of May as Jewish American Heritage Month, especially at a time when Jewish people around the world face unspeakable persecution,” the governors said in a joint statement. “Our nation has a long history of support for Israel, and it is more important than ever that we stand together with the Jewish community in combating horrific acts of anti-Semitism, religious bigotry and terrorism at home and around the world.”
“Throughout the month of May, we are proud to celebrate Jewish traditions and the many positive contributions the Jewish community has made to our country, and to reaffirm our unwavering support for the State of Israel and its people.”

In addition to Ivey, Governors Mike Dunleavy of Alaska, Sarah Sanders of Arkansas, Ron DeSantis of Florida, Brian Kemp of Georgia, Brad Little of Idaho, Eric Holcomb of Indiana, Kim Reynolds of Iowa, Jeff Landry of Louisiana, Tate Reeves of Mississippi, Mike Parson of Missouri, Greg Gianforte of Montana, Jim Pilen of Nebraska, Joe Lombard of Nevada and New Hampshire Governor Robert M. Among those in attendance were Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, Vermont Governor Phil Scott, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon.
Also on the first day of Jewish American Heritage Month, the Republican Jewish Coalition posted on its social media pages about a 400% increase in instances of anti-Semitism.
“Anti-Semitism has skyrocketed by nearly 400 percent. Jewish students at universities across the country are being attacked, harassed, intimidated and barred from campus by anti-Semitic and anti-American mobs,” the group said. “To make matters worse, rampaging Hamas apologists are cheered on by Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists and shamefully encouraged by members of Congress, university faculty and classmates.”
“This is a moment that calls for moral clarity, courage and righteous leadership. The Jewish community rightly demands and expects much more.”
“And we're so grateful for the support and love from everyone who supports us.”
