Kayenta comes together for St. Mary’s food distribution amid challenging weather | Navajo-Hopi Observer

Kayenta, Arizona — Despite the muddy rodeo grounds at Kayenta’s flea market, St. Mary’s Food rations were able to find a new home in the parking lot of the Kayenta Chapter House. surrounding community.

Kayenta Chapter officers and the Kayenta Unified School District played a key role in providing the necessary approvals and responding to last minute requests. The event was also attended by many volunteers who generously donated their time and support.

Kayenta Township Town Administrators, Department of Public Works, Animal Control and Support Staff, Navajo Nation Health Department, Kayenta Police Department, EMS, Fire Department, Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Arizona Department of Transportation.

Missionaries from the Kayenta LDS Church and Kayenta Seventh Day Adventists stepped in to help, and the Gallup Community Food Bank made significant contributions, with help provided by individuals such as Anthony Murillo, Matthew Rodriguez, Raul Rodriguez, and Yesenia Zungia.

The next Kayenta Community Food Distribution is scheduled for March 7th, and the community is already gearing up for another successful event. Together, the Kayenta community continues to make a positive impact on those in need.
