Keith Olbermann Issues Apology to Scott Jennings
Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann extended an apology to CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings on Tuesday following a concerning post he made the day before. In that post, he seemed to imply a direct threat, stating, “You’re the next motherfucker.”
Though Olbermann quickly deleted the post, a screenshot of it circulated online, reportedly tagging FBI Director Kash Patel. Olbermann later took to X to clarify his earlier statements.
He wrote, “I apologize without booking it to @scottjenningsky. Yesterday, I posted two responses regarding him and deleted them because they could be misunderstood as a threat—other than to his career. I quickly replaced them with something clearer.”
In another follow-up, Olbermann stated, “I oppose and condemn political violence and its threats. It’s never the right time to unintentionally convey such impressions, and this instance is particularly egregious. I should have apologized sooner.”
After his initial post, he made another comment that hinted at Jennings’ position at CNN: “Now we’re removing fascists from real television. That means your career is next, Jennings. Send tapes to the real American voice. But amateurs, continue robbing the camera.” Before issuing the apology, Olbermann had also made several posts criticizing members of the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and others.
This incident occurred just a day after a somber ceremony for Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was tragically killed during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10th.
As of now, Jennings has not responded to requests for comments regarding the situation.
