Key Witness Testimony Contradicts Fani Willis’ Defense Of ‘Romantic’ Relationship With Special Prosecutor

On Thursday, a key witness testified that the romantic relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade began in 2019.

Robin Yearty, a close friend of Mr. Willis who previously worked in the district attorney's office, said Thursday that the relationship between Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade began shortly after they met at a conference for district court judges in 2019. I testified. Her testimony contradicts the way Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade presented their defense. According to court filings, their relationship began after Wade's contract began in 2022.

“Yes,” Ierty replied.

“So what if I say personal, romantic?” she asked.

“Yes,” Ierty replied.

“And do you understand that their relationship started in 2019 and continued until they last spoke?” Merchant asked.

Roman's original motion to disqualify Willis, filed on Jan. 8, was based on former President Donald Trump's case against Wade, when he took her on vacation with money earned in that job. He claimed that he received an unfair advantage by appointing him as a special prosecutor. Willis acknowledged the existence of this relationship in the state's Feb. 2 response to the motion.
In an affidavit attached to the state's Feb. 2 response, Mr. Wade said he had no relationship with Mr. Willis other than as friends before taking office. He said their personal relationship developed in 2022.
