Kickstand Kafé Introduces Coffee-Inspired Happy Hour in Downtown Flagstaff

Kickstand’s Happy Hour runs daily from 3 to 6pm with both drinks and food specials.

Kickstand Kafé is a longtime local hangout for coffee lovers in Flagstaff, offering a fresher reason to last a little longer in the afternoon. A new happy hour menu featuring coffee-inspired cocktails, local brews and a variety of small bits. The expansion takes place right after the cafe, which received its liquor license last October, and Happy Hour will be launched around the holidays.

Co-owner Katherine Chabot said the new product is a response to customer feedback and an effort to boost business in the late afternoon. “We are one of the only coffee shops in town that are open until 6pm, and for several years our customers have been asking for ‘wine down’ or ‘coffee cocktail hour’,” she said. “This gives people another way to enjoy the space they already love.”

Kickstand’s Happy Hour runs daily from 3 to 6pm with both drinks and food specials. Signature cocktails include Espresso Martini – made with Cafe’s Premium Espresso – alongside a smooth mix of cold beers and whiskey with cold fashion. Other creative twists include Irish coffee topped with vanilla whipped cream and cozy whiskey chai featuring Maya chai.

On the food side, the cafe has a variety of shareable options, including Noshboard (a curated mix of meat, cheese and accompaniment), honey mustard and smoked salmon dip, and red quinoa corn chips with homemade salsa. For those with sweet teeth, the pastries fall out halfway during happy hour.

Chabot said the team is meant to maintain the relaxed and productive atmosphere that regulars expect while the cafe expands its products. “We don’t want to be a bar, we want to maintain the atmosphere of a coffee shop,” she said. “All the changes we’re making are keeping up with Flagstaff (the growing small town) and maintaining a healthy coffee shop.”

Live music is unlikely, Chabot said, without considering surrounding neighborhoods and businesses, as well as many customers working on laptops on kickstands throughout the day. But there could be community-friendly events on the horizon.

We’re looking at “wine and vinyl” nights or casual gaming nights that stay true to the cafe atmosphere,” she said.

Chabot has been with Kickstand Kafé for several years, first working as a manager and now co-owner alongside Guillermo Cortes. The cafe is located at 719 N. Humphreys St. and has long been a go-to for both students, locals and tourists.

For now, the goal is simple. Whether it’s the espresso shock or a smooth cold to toast the end of the day, it gives people another reason to stop by. FBN
