Kingman Public Hearing Regarding Use of CDBG Funds

The City of Kingman is expected to receive approximately $406,068 in 2024 federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Arizona Housing Authority Regional Treasurer (RA).

The City of Kingman also plans to apply for $500,000 in fiscal year 2024 CDBG funding from the State Special Projects (SSP) account. CDBG funds must be used to benefit low-income people and communities, alleviate slums and blight, and address urgent needs.

A public hearing will be held at the City Council Building, 310 N. 4th Street, Kingman, Arizona, on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 5:00 pm to gather public input regarding the use of CDBG funds.

Possible use cases include:

1) Public infrastructure (e.g. water, sewerage, road improvements).

2) community facilities (e.g. parks, clinics, libraries, senior centers or youth centers);

3) Housing (e.g., rehabilitation of owner-occupied or multifamily housing, utility connections on private land, new housing built by non-profit organizations);

4) Public services (e.g., paying salaries for additional staff to expand Head Start programs, purchasing vans to transport people with disabilities, and equipment and rentals to start new job training programs).and
