Kingman baseball prodigy Tariq Sukbal returned to the major leagues after undergoing flexor tendon surgery last August. The 26-year-old left-handed pitcher reclaimed his role as a promising starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, enjoying a string of successes in a short appearance.
Skbal had a successful 2022 season before an injury sidelined him. When shut out, he posted a 3.52 ERA.
After a lengthy recovery from surgery last summer, the 6-3, 240-pound Skbal began his first minor league rehab in early June. After his surgery, Skbal’s fastball speed reached 96 mph.
Sukubal made his first major league start of the year on Independence Day. He shutout Oakland in four innings, allowing no walks, no hits, and striking out six A’s, but dropped out after 57 pitches as the Tigers managed their workload for more innings in the future.
Skbal threw four more scoreless innings against Toronto on Sunday, giving up two hits and two walks in 63 innings while fueling the five-man Blue Jays. Skubbal is scheduled to appear after the All-Star break against the Royals in Kansas City this Saturday.
