Safford City Council – Steve McGoy
My name is Steve McGaughey. He is seeking re-election to Safford City Council, where he was first appointed to fill a vacancy in 2015.
I am a lifelong citizen of Safford who has worked since I was young, delivering newspapers, chopping cotton and working on the farm in the summer. Worked for raster. He then worked with his father as his vendor for Fender, a family-run auto collision repair business. I have been in Graham County for his 19 years, first as a sheriff’s office dispatcher, then in a highway yard, and now in planning and zoning.
I am a first responder and have been with both the Safford Volunteer Fire Department and the Graham County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue for nearly 34 years. I have been married to Donna McEwen for 32 years and enjoy spending time with my family.
I have always been interested in Safford’s development, but maintaining its family-friendly small town values. I am financially conservative but believe it is important to attract and retain the best employees. Because they are our most valuable assets. We would like to retain a seat on the Council to review the various projects we have initiated, including wastewater transfer to the Graham County Fairgrounds, road and drainage improvements, and park development.
I hope the citizens of Safford will re-elect me knowing that I care deeply about the interests of taxpayers and all residents of Safford.
