Yuma — Cofa High School alumnus Isaac Navarrete (class of 2022) launched a three-year “Grant a Gown” fundraiser to help high school students who can’t afford a hat and gown for their graduation ceremony.

“We’ve had a lot of support from the community over the last two years to keep us going,” Navarrete said. “There’s no reason students shouldn’t get their own hats and gowns. I’m so grateful to be able to continue with Grant A Gown because it’s a way to give back while away from home.”

Navarrete, who now attends Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, got the idea for “Grant a Gown” when she saw one of her family members couldn’t afford a graduation cap and gown. I was.

The Grant a Gown initiative has helped over 100 students since its launch in 2021.

Navarrete submits donation letters to local businesses and individuals asking for funds to help as many students as possible. The average cost per cap and gown she is $30-$50.

Students who require hats and gowns should complete the form below. tinyurl.com/grantaown23Grant a Gown is run on a first-come, first-served basis, and the sooner a student applies, the better.
