Kyrsten Sinema Will Not Run For Reelection To The Senate

Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona says she will not run for re-election in 2024, according to a video message she posted on Twitter (now known as X) on Tuesday.

Sinema was elected to the Senate as a member of the Democratic Party in 2018, but left the party after the 2022 midterm elections. Along with West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, who is also retiring, she has taken moderate positions within the party, often voting against Democratic priorities such as an exception to the filibuster.
