LAMPKIN And WALTER: Will Virginia Fully Turn Red Under Glenn Youngkin?

Since his confirmation in January 2022, Gov. Glenn Youngkin has received generally positive reviews from voters and fellow legislators. A centripetal force in Virginia’s legislature, Mr. Youngkin has promoted a series of administrative priorities that have yielded tangible positive results for federal residents.

While working with the politically divided General Assembly, he nevertheless led the passage of a two-year budget to increase law enforcement funding and strengthen the teaching capacity of K-12 schools. Moreover, his massive investments in mental health and the abolition of the food tax demonstrate his keen political ability to achieve broad populist initiatives that serve the interests of all Virginians.

His decision has paid off so far.According to a recent Roanoke University poll51% of Virginia voters approve of his work.

But Jonkin’s ability to effectively carry out his campaign goals is limited by the tightly divided Congress. With a Republican majority in the House of Representatives and a minority in the Senate needing four more seats, Virginia is nearing a three-game winning streak for the first time since 2013.

If the Republican Party can secure control of both houses under the leadership of a widely popular and effective governor, it could bring unprecedented benefits to the federal government, with Youngkin citing concerns about community security, educational reform, and rising costs of living. You will be able to implement your important priorities.

Recognizing the opportunities that a unified Congress could bring, Youngkin did everything in his power to endorse the candidate he believed would best serve Virginia’s interests ahead of last week’s primary. Primary endorsements are somewhat unusual for governors, who often wait until the turmoil in the primaries subsides before endorsing a candidate.

However, the decision paid off, big influence Youngkin shares a similar view with Virginia voters. All of the 10 candidates he endorsed won the primary.

Earlier this year, we launched Changemakers to recognize opportunities unseen in the last decade and build momentum for governors. Our organization is a Political Action Committee (PAC) that lives up to its name, strengthening donor support for candidates who are best positioned to win major election campaigns this fall. Leading populist efforts.

Changemakers is unique among PACs in that it collects donations of any amount, primarily from Virginians who do not normally donate to the campaign. We will donate all of these donations directly to candidates who support Youngkin’s efforts and who we believe are statistically more likely to win.

As longtime Virginia residents involved in state and federal politics, we have always recognized the need for qualified conservative candidates.

In November, Virginians will go to the polls to vote for both state and local offices. We support greater public participation in all aspects of the political process.

Through our efforts, we hope that the results will tell us what we already know. Virginia is a city for changemakers.
