When I say their marriage is a victory for a normal guy, I don't mean a boring guy. If you're a super boring guy, you might not be able to attract pretty women, even if you have a trust fund lying around. A sense of humor is essential. It is necessary to make women laugh and dizzy. As Skalas puts it, they need “instant chemistry that cuts through her usual melancholy.” Without a sharp sense of humor and some wit, it would be even more difficult for an average person with a boring job to get by.
A few years ago I went to a bar/club in Tampa. There was a group of very tall, tall, handsome guys there. They wear designer clothes and luxury watches, probably Rolexes, classic indicators of wealth. You'd think the girls at the club would be paying attention to them and trying to dance with them. But that wasn't the case. The players were completely stuck in a quagmire. Completed Narc. They stood in a corner away from the dance floor, staring at the women with creepy eyes instead of approaching them and stopping them. They were too serious to dance. They are too confident that their looks and Gucci shirts alone will make girls swoon.
However, there were a lot of guys in the bar pulling on 9 and 10 year old women even though they weren't all that healthy. why? They weren't afraid to dance and be a little silly to make the ladies laugh. They were just regular white guys, but they had that rhythm.
