Charlamagne Tha God Reacts to Kamala Harris’s Potential 2028 Presidential Run
On Thursday, radio host Charlamagne Tha God shared his lack of enthusiasm regarding the prospect of former Vice President Kamala Harris running for president again in 2028 during a segment on his show, The Breakfast Club.
Harris recently stated that she would not pursue a run for the governor of California after earlier reports suggested she was contemplating either that or a presidential bid. Charlamagne remarked on her decision, expressing that perhaps she should focus on writing a book and starting a podcast instead.
“I think Kamala can definitely be a Democratic leader,” Charlamagne noted, highlighting a strategic aspect of her political journey. “Every time she was in front of people, it felt transactional,” he explained, reflecting on her previous campaigns. “She ran for president in 2020 and then became VP; last year, she was a Democratic candidate. It’s almost like she was always asking for something.”
He further asserted that many still don’t know her well, suggesting that if they did, they’d likely like her. “I don’t think people had that opportunity,” he added, hinting at a need for her to connect more personally with the public.
Harris emphasized her excitement to support Democrats across the nation and mentioned plans to share more about her future goals in the upcoming months.
Co-host DJ Envy brought up the brief nature of Harris’s 2024 campaign, which ended after former President Joe Biden exited the race, having backed her shortly after she announced her candidacy.
“I’m not sure if she should run again,” Charlamagne said, “but I’d like to see her write a book and start a podcast. She’s still relatively young, but honestly? I have no idea what will happen in 2028. The state of the Democrats is concerning.”
Charlamagne previously showed his support for Harris and defended her during her short campaign when listeners criticized her. Meanwhile, Delaware Senator Chris Coons echoed the lack of excitement about 2028, remarking, “We really need to concentrate on the issues at hand right now.”
In her announcement on Thursday, Harris mentioned her upcoming book about the 2024 presidential election, titled “107 Days,” which is set to be released in September.
