On Wednesday, Frank Laukin, a billionaire donor to Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, claimed the former South Carolina state has a “very good chance” of winning the Republican nomination. FOX host Laura Ingraham appeared stunned.
Lou Keen appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” to talk about her support for Haley and her goals for election season. Ingraham questioned the billionaire about why his team is continuing as the Republican Party continues to divide, noting that they are simply “supporting Biden.” (Related article: Nikki Haley says 'racism is not over yet' after Trump wins New Hampshire)
“All you guys are doing right now is helping Biden,” Ingraham said.
Rokeen disputed the Fox host's claims and emphasized that the choice lies with the American people. The billionaire also said he believed Haley's team “will turn out a lot of voters” as the campaign continues.
“I believe it is the American people who have the right to speak… We are very clear. We think her future candidate is Nikki Haley and we will strongly support her. I think she'll pull in as her profile increases. I think she will attract a lot of voters,” Laukien said.
“She’s an underdog, but she just made it to the conference championship game,” Laukeen continued. “The Super Bowl is in November. You guys want to compete in the Super Bowl right now. She's a senior, one of the last two. I think they're going to look at her closely and see my Looking at Trump, who is, in my opinion, a flawed candidate in many ways, I think so. I think she's going to have even more growth.”
Ingraham then asked Ms. Laukien if she believed the former South Carolina governor would win in his home state. Although he admitted he didn't know the billionaire, Haley said his focus remains on South Carolina and Super Tuesday. Laukeen added that Haley has a “very good chance” because she believes most Americans do not want a rematch between Biden and Trump in the general election. “So, Frank, do you think she'll beat South Carolina?” Ingraham asked.
“I don't know, but we're focused on South Carolina and Super Tuesday. I think she has a chance to advance further and she's an underdog right now, but I think it's definitely the wrong time to give up. ” Raukien said. “I think we have a very good chance of achieving what this country wants, which is that 70% of them don't want a rematch between Trump and Biden. ”
“Then you should have voted for Nicki in Iowa and New Hampshire,” Ingraham responded. In response, Laukeen said Haley is not as well-known as former President Donald Trump.
“Everyone knows who she is. I mean that's ridiculous,” Ingraham responded.
The former South Carolina governor lost to Trump in the Iowa and New Hampshire Republican primaries this month. Trump won the Iowa caucuses in early January by 51% and Tuesday's New Hampshire primary by about 54%, winning 12 delegates.
