Law enforcement keeps investigating Meek’s death – Yuma Pioneer

Law enforcement has identified the suspect in Brittani Meek's death.

Yuma Police Chief Jerry Thompson told the Pioneer that he understands people's concerns about the incident, but law enforcement is unable to share much information due to the sensitive nature of the case. He said he wants to understand that this type of case takes time.

This incident is still under active investigation. “Yuma Police Department No. 13th “The District Attorney's Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are working diligently on this case,” Thompson said. “We continue to follow all leads and have now identified the suspect in this case.”

The suspect's identity has not been released.

Meek, 25, went missing on October 25th. YPD said he received a report that Meek was planning to go to the Denver area to meet an unknown person. Her description and the description of the car she was driving were widely disseminated.

However, the vehicle was found in rural Yuma County on November 16th, and the body was discovered on November 22nd. An autopsy was performed on November 27, at which time the body was positively identified as Meek.
