Leaking Amerigas Truck Caused Closure Of Townsend Winona Road West Of Leupp Road East Of Flagstaff Tuesday – KAFF News – Flagstaff

Townsend Winona Road was closed on the west side of Leupp Road Tuesday morning after an accident involving an Amerigas truck carrying 2,500 pounds of propane. Coconino County Sheriff officials said the accident between the truck and the Jeep Cherokee occurred around 8:50 a.m. at the intersection of two roads. The propane truck leaked in the accident. The Cherokee driver dropped the phone and as he reached out to pick it up, the Cherokee driver drifted over the center line, hit the tanker’s rear axle, and was ripped off the truck, according to an agent. Both drivers received medical treatment at the scene. Traffic returned to normal in the afternoon. Amerigas has issued a statement regarding the incident. They said, “Our drivers are specially trained to respond to accidents to ensure the safety of themselves and those involved. Our actions have been important in mitigating the situation. We are working closely with local authorities to implement appropriate safety procedures and do not expect any disruption to deliveries in the area. I have.”
