Learn how to grow your own food with Kingman’s Seed to Supper program

Kingman residents looking to grow a green thumb and grow their own food this year can do so with the help of a three-week seed-to-feast gardening program.

Each week, beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 14, at Kingman Mohave County Library, there will be two one-hour presentations where participants can learn how to become more independent by growing their own food at home. increase. The next two sessions, January 21st and his January 28th, stack on top of each other and are designed to help both first-time gardeners and experienced gardeners alike.

The series is part of the Mojave County Department of Public Health’s AZ Health Zone, an initiative to spread education about healthy lifestyles to residents across the state. Sessions are open to the public, but seating is limited to 100 on a first-come, first-served basis.

“The garden is like, ‘I want variety. I want taste. I want convenience,'” Zen Mocarski, a health education specialist at AZ Health Zone, said in a press release.

“There’s nothing like eating food in the moment after harvest,” Mochalski said.

Beyond Kingman, in addition to virtual, there are also plans to introduce future programs in Golden Shores, Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City.
