Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lee Zeldin appeared on Fox News to encourage “Democrats” to blame and distance themselves from the growing wave of politically motivated threats and violence.
In 2022, then religious New York gubernatorial candidate Zeldin experienced political violence when a shooting occurred just outside his Long Island home while his teenage daughter was inside. When he appeared in “Ingraham’s Angle,” Zeldin said the environment of political hatred has been dangerously normalized.
“There are now attempts to understand President Trump and how to oppose rights. Now there are people out of power, and they are on fire. “This is not a more important moment for these Democrats who have no authority to send a message that this is from fringe, zero tolerance. It won’t normalize. If you follow me, that leader will be very clear that at this moment, that moment will not be welcomed in this society.”
Zeldin also urged his leaders to reject the influence of Fringe.
“This needs to be treated as a fringe, and there are people in politics that have individuals across the country that follow them,” Zeldin told host Laura Ingraham when asked about his reaction to the intensified violence. “And these people who are in office are chasing those people instead of leading them. This comes from the fringe. It needs to be handled from the fringe, it needs to be handled with zero tolerance.”

Zeldin warned that public figures like journalist Taylor Lorenz would “fed” the story of extremists by engaging in provocative rhetoric online, attracting dangerous attention and amplifying instability. Former Washington Post columnist Lorenz spoke with reporter Donnie O’Sullivan about appeals to women during CNN Special Sunday, calling murderer Luigi Mangion “morally good” and “handsome.” (Related: DEI and Environmental Justice Grants worth $1.7 billion in EPA scrap)
“There’s a lot of clickbaits. I played a clip of Taylor Lorenz. She may be following more. Anyone who may be a follower of this assassin might chase after Taylor Lorenz, so she feeds it and normalizes it,” Zeldin said. “And we shouldn’t try to make assassinations great again in this country. It must be something that is identified in the Matrix as ten insanity. From right to left or from left, if you are a leader in government, if you are a leader at all, you should guide those who chase you in contrast to what you are being led by them.”
Police in Altoona, Pennsylvania arrested Mangion in December 2024 after a five-day manhunt following the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel. Attorney General Pam Bondy said on April 1 that he would pursue the death penalty against Mangion if the federal government is found guilty of federal charges related to Thompson’s murder.
