There is nothing new about obnoxious left-wing protesters blocking public roads and bridges. While it may seem like a feature of the performative social media era, it actually dates back to the civil rights movement of the 1960s. What defined the protesters then is the same thing that will ensure their defeat today. They are so wrapped up in their own narcissism that they can't imagine why their sermons can't resonate.
Left-wing demonstrators blocked roads in New York City on Monday in response to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. New York City police quickly mobilized to reopen several access points closed by protesters and made more than 100 arrests. This is already the second time this year that activists have thrown themselves onto New York City streets to protest against Israel. This tactic has become commonplace other progressive city In the same way. Disrupting traffic to and from New York's notoriously inaccessible airports is the least of the concerns.almost a million Suburban residents are unable to get to work, and most importantly, police and other first responders are unsure whether they will be able to reach people in distress. The city's economic activity and basic public services come to a screeching halt.

This may seem like a sign of recent events, of the rapid decline of urban America under ultra-progressive mismanagement. We have certainly seen a surge in these types of protests in recent years as far-left race and climate change politics have become popular. Progressive officials are happy with rampant crime, open drug use, and sprawling homeless encampments because they, too, support chaos in the name of “social change.” , there is little desire to confront the protesters. Social media encourages all of this, with activists posting videos of their “heroic” acts for likes and influence. But the original “stall-in” had a more humble purpose.
The first protests of this kind occurred in April 1964, at the height of the civil rights movement. The Brooklyn chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality organized a blockade of New York City's freeways as hundreds of thousands of people were expected to attend the opening day of the World's Fair in Queens. Thousands of motorists parked their cars on the city's main roads, preventing visitors from reaching the fairgrounds. slate The organizer's thoughts are explained as follows.
“If that gesture is grand enough and, yes, theatrical enough, then the president and Congress, in fact the entire political system of the country, and those who have ignored demands for racial justice for far too long. It will attract the attention of
The assumption here is that all the civil rights movement suffered from was a lack of “attention.” If more were exposed, the injustice would be so egregious that people would pursue its causes. However, this belief, bordering on narcissism, has a whiff of moral superiority. Their purpose is so overwhelmingly urgent that any inconvenience (or even actual harm, in the case of police and ambulances) that people experience pales in comparison. Everyone will recognize this and march together towards change because it is undeniably righteous.
Sixty years ago, when systemic racism still existed legally in America, the protesters may have a point. For too long, our nation's founding principles have been imperfectly applied to black Americans. But their successors, DEI fanatics, climate change fanatics, and fanatically pro-Hamas anti-Semites, have no such foothold.
As one protester said in X, about Israel's alleged genocide in Gaza, “We're going to bother everyone who doesn't care until they do.”

This isn't just narcissism that feels entitled to ruin someone's day. It is a narcissism so convinced of its moral superiority that the only reason its cause fails to resonate is lack of exposure. But unlike the original civil rights movement, there is no lack of exposure. Left-wing activists and their allies in the media, government, and international bureaucracy have all worked in concert to advance a pro-Palestinian narrative. Its moral claims are so stupid that they fail to evoke sympathy.
There is no need to debate the philosophical basis for determining right and wrong, objective truth or reality. The simple fact is that most people saw these protests for what they were.
Serious injustice has persisted in the South for far too long, but through the rise of mass media, most people in the country are finally able to see it for themselves.
Similarly, Israel suffered a vicious terrorist attack and is now defending its security against existential threats rather than waging a “genocidal war.” No matter how much information is exposed, the understanding of most Americans will not change. People aren't going to stop driving to work to change the weather; they're taking a chance on the “climate crisis.” They have diverse friends, they see that racial minorities are doing very well in America, and they're not going to stop believing their eyes just because they're stuck in traffic.
FED UP New Yorkers react to traffic blockade due to pro-Palestinian protests:
“That's it! They ruined my day! Fuck them! This is New York, not Palestine, not Gaza!”
All they are doing is creating enemies everywhere in the country.

One driver had the perfect reaction, yelling at the protesters from his stalled car: Fuck it! This is New York, not Palestine or Gaza! ”
The protesters are too self-centered to realize that this is the only response they will get.
