Legion Family members lead Independence Day celebrations

From sponsoring fireworks displays, coordinating parades, and hosting family-friendly events, members of the American Legion family led efforts to commemorate Fourth of July in their communities.

There were also non-traditional celebrations, such as veterans’ walks and blood drives. But all events were geared towards his one goal: celebrating the birthday of the United States of America.

Arizona

In Payson, the American Legion Post 147 hosted the town’s Independence Day parade.

California

· In Los Angeles, the American Legion Ronald Reagan Post 283 was one of the major sponsors of the Pacific Palisades Diamond Jubilee Parade. The parade included marching bands, local civic groups, school groups, dogs, and the 26th Mounted Operations Detachment of the California National Guard.Watch the parade video here.

· In Healdsburg, the American Legion Post 111 held its annual fireworks display at the Healdsburg High School playground.

· In the Twin Cities of Larkspur, the American Legion Post 313 continues a 69-year tradition with its annual pancake breakfast. Proceeds from the breakfast benefit will be donated to Post 313 and Boy Scout Troop 43.

In Westcliffe, thousands of locals attended the annual Independence Day parade hosted by the American Legion Post-170.

florida

· In Cape Coral, the American Legion Post 90 gathered community members to decommission the flag and started a blood drive. The post offered free hot dogs and burgers in the afternoon, along with live music. “The flag code states that the flag must be properly destroyed and obsoleted. Post 4 Commander Keith Velez told Fox 4.. “While it marks the end of the life of the American flag, we are doing blood drives to honor the men and women who can be saved by donating blood.”

In Safety Harbor, the American Legion Family of Post 238 hosted a parade along Main Street, followed by a patriotic ceremony attended by local and Florida Veterans Administration leaders . Complimentary snacks were also provided.

· In St. James, American Legion Post 136 served hamburgers, hot dogs and chips all day long, had a live band playing, and had a fireworks display that night.

Georgia

In Canton, the American Legion Post 45 hosted the Independence Day parade.

Illinois

· In Sullivan, the American Legion Post 68 held a Fourth of July celebration that included a family carnival, parade, watermelon eating contest, sack and turtle race, and fireworks at dusk.

· In Clinton, the Klang Bennett Post 103 ran a watermelon eating contest, a dunk tank, and a bicycle decorating contest, but also added a 3.5-mile walk/run with veterans.

Indiana

In Cloverdale, American Legion Post 281 hosted a fireworks display that capped off a day of family-friendly games and activities, as well as live music and food trucks. Kids could play in his three bounce houses and adults could compete in his cornhole tournaments.

Maryland

In Mayo, the American Legion Cummings Beerke Post 226 sponsors a July 1st Independence Day celebration that includes a parade, cornhole tournament, food, face painting, live music and a fireworks display. It was conducted.

Minnesota

In Delano, the American Legion Post 377 and Tuffy’s Pet Treats sponsored the city’s fireworks display.

Missouri

In Washington, the American Legion Post 218 produced Star Spangled 4 for the community at the Washington Town and Country Fairgrounds. The event included colors, food introductions, face painting, cornhole, kids zone with frisbee golf and sprinklers, live band, fireworks show and more.

new york

The city of Kandor celebrated its 150th Independence Day under the auspices of the Legion Post 907. The parade was followed by a barbecue of his chicken, which is also available for horseback riding.

north carolina

· In King, American Legion Post 290 hosted a family-friendly, Americana-themed, all-day music festival at its Main Street fairgrounds. Adults were charged a $10 donation, but kids 12 and under got free admission to events like bands, bounce houses, dunk booths, video arcade trailers, and fireworks.

· In Faith, the American Legion Post 327 and Auxiliary Force 327 teamed up with the Faith Civitan Club to host a Rowan County Independence Day celebration. The nearly week-long event included parades, street dancing, rides and entertainment, and two fireworks displays.

south carolina

In Little River, the American Legion Post 186 held its annual beach walk. On this walk, members of the Post joined the community, and he roamed eight miles of beach with more than 100 US flags.

The walk also included a ceremony by guest speakers. Flags are then raised to honor the living and dead.

texas

· In Abernathy, the Barton Hood American Legion Post 500 and the Abernathy Volunteer Fire Department held a fireworks show for the community.

· In Edinburgh, American Legion Post 408 provided free hot dogs and chips and hosted a fireworks display.

· In Taylor, the Graham D. Loon Post 39 hosted the annual Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks, as well as a parade and ice cream meet-and-greet. The post also used the event to gather fans of community veterans, seniors, and residents with disabilities.

Wisconsin

In Superior, the American Legion Richard I. Bonpost 435 sponsored the annual 4th of July parade. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 435 also had a large presence at the parade.
