Another solution to the water crisis
The year is 2123. Arizona hosts its annual water auction once again. Anyone can bid on available water. This water is in addition to the amount mandated by the state. So if you want to buy more water for your pool, your 3-acre lawn, or your vegetable garden, you can. You bid on a specific amount of water and the unit price he pays is $1,000 for 1,000 gallons. The highest bid per unit wins. This process continues until all the water is sold. The bid amount will be used for environmental conservation, infrastructure projects and water management.
The system started to take shape around 2023 when governments purchased water from vendors at mutually agreed prices. This approach was discontinued 50 years ago because it proved to be a very expensive and inefficient way of allocating scarce water resources.

rule of law
It is disappointing that former President Trump called on his supporters to protest possible indictments by a grand jury in New York. What he essentially accuses New York authorities of is “lese majeste” and an insult to suggesting that they be held accountable for his actions. Trump clearly doesn’t think any laws or rules should apply to him.
But the cornerstone of our democracy requires equal justice before the law. Unfortunately, this principle, so beautifully proclaimed by Abraham Lincoln in his speech at the Lyceum, has been forgotten by current Trump supporters in Congress and elsewhere. I hope they ponder what Lincoln thinks of them when he abandons the principle of enslaving individuals who blatantly despise democracy. How far will they go on that very dark road?
Medicaid benefits
Re: March 18th article “My last days in a nursing home barely on a penny”.
After reading this article, I was very concerned about the proposal that Medicaid seniors would be given a personal needs allowance as low as $30 per month. set by the government. However, each state may choose to pay more. Further research shows that $30/month is the lowest in Alabama, Illinois, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Alaska has the largest allowance of $200 per month. The average benefit in the 50 states and the District of Columbia is $62 per month. The Arizona allowance is $137.10 per month.
Hopefully the above provides the reader with a better insight into the matter.
Medicare Advantage
Re: March 20 article “Medicare Advantage funding should not be cut by Biden”.
Ross’s Arizona Opinion article is a prime example of how we know how to use other people’s money to solve ‘problems’.
First, Biden’s cut reflects the reality that Medicare Advantage has been significantly cheaper since its inception. Many insurers have already increased MA pricing by reducing benefits and increasing deductibles and copayments. You still can’t get “something for free”. Someone has to pay for underestimated usage and costs.
Second, I don’t believe Biden’s action will eliminate MA coverage.
Finally, what can the Arizona Nurses Association, or its members, do financially to reduce healthcare costs or make up for the mountain of deficits the Medicare Advantage program has created since its inception? ?

suitable for age
Stop the rhetoric of banning books. When choosing a movie for kids, I might choose PG. The theater does not allow children under the age of 17 to purchase tickets to her R-rated movies. Would you allow your child to buy beer or wine at the local grocery store? Why would an elementary school librarian or administrator allow books with sexually explicit content in the library? For that matter, Florida’s so-called “don’t say gay” bill targeted children aged 5 to her 8. when did we lose our minds Leave your children as children and give them age-appropriate materials. Stop the stupid rhetoric!
book ban doesn’t work
As a former school librarian who has had yearly discussions with students about censorship and banned books, I think the SB1700 is a waste of time. When asked what they would do if their children read a book they found uncomfortable, they said, “Stop reading it.” they can decide for themselves. Also, if younger children read a book and have questions, they can ask a parent or other trusted adult for clarification.
Justin Wadsak keeps talking about books he’s never seen but believes are harmful. Cable TV and the Internet as a whole should be banned, she said. It just makes them want to read more. At the very least, these books are available from public libraries and local bookstores.
Stop wasting your time on nonsense and start working on the budgets and housing affordability that really matter to your voters.
Democracy
Hasn’t he learned his lesson? Come on man. Call the dog whistle base and protest again. Very bad results for the first time. There is no need to repeat that history. seriously. And from that band’s appearance of abandoned, unrepentant former Capitol tourists, they might just follow suit. But hey, that’s DeSantis’ problem. I look forward to the political ramifications from all of it. My fellow educated voters, take note of folder rolls.
EPA Soot Regulations Should Go Further
As a lifelong resident of Southern Arizona, I have always appreciated sunny skies and clean air as they support healthy living in our community. I have. Soot, fine particles produced from burning fossil fuels, can penetrate the lungs and bloodstream, exacerbating asthma, reducing lung function and causing breathing difficulties. Air quality is declining and we need stronger regulations to promote health to reduce the sources of poor air quality we can control. The new EPA proposed soot rule is the right direction Soot should be limited to 8 micrograms per cubic meter on an annual basis and 25 micrograms per cubic meter on a daily basis.
Hadvey, get away!
Arizona, Pima County, and Tucson must determine their vision for Southern Arizona. Will the region continue to attract health and landscape lovers, or will it be another region ruined by giant mines? Gather in Southern Arizona. Hikers, bikers and birders come from all over the world to enjoy our unique habitat. It’s a paradise for retirees and young people who have moved here to enjoy outdoor activities in clean air. It’ll all be gone once the Hudbays get their way and dig this giant toxic pit in Santa Rita. It’s time to choose.
AZ has its own Marjorie Taylor Green
Arizona’s Justin (Marjorie Taylor-Green) Wadsack is our version of Georgia Congressman (or Lauren Boubert). She acts like Green, does outrageous things, and seeks national recognition with nothing but ridicule.
Arizona has produced some of the best and most inspiring female hearts. Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Governor Jane Hull, Rose Mofford, Linda Ronstadt, Polly Rosenbaum, Gabby Giffords, Marietta Bryant, and Daisy Moore come to mind. Now we only find Wadsak, Kelly Ward, Debbie Lesko, Wendy Rogers, Sign Carr and others who are constantly embarrassing the state. Kari Lake, the “leading lady of Trumpism,” has been around long enough to do significant damage. She has been called “America’s Most Dangerous Politician” by The Atlantic.
And not just women. Men are equally ashamed. Paul Gosser, Andy Biggs, John Kavanagh, JD Mesnard, and Jake Hoffman are the backside thorns of over 7 million Arizonas.
They work to remove our rights while promoting fascism and censorship.

Re: March 23 article “Biden Hypocrisy on Alaska Oil Project”.
This article details Old Joe’s betrayal of his pledge to fight global warming.
This question conjures up a scenario in which a very ill patient with a serious bowel problem is consulting with a doctor about possible treatments. The proposition is death from terminal colon cancer. There is no third option.
It seems to me that in today’s political realities, the Democrats are the equivalent of diarrhea’s “solution,” and the Republican Party is a decidedly deadly cancer.
arkansas memorial
I read in yesterday’s paper that the Governor of Arkansas “signed a new law allowing a monument near the State Capitol to mark the number of abortions performed in Arkansas.” Would she be willing to build a memorial to honor all those who died from gun violence?
