The wrestling season officially ended with three Lake Havasu High School wrestlers finishing in the top six in their respective brackets.
The top finisher is Gunnar LeGrand, who finished runner-up in the 138 bracket this year. After pinning his two opponents in the first, LeGrand won a 6-3 decision to advance to the championship. Canyon’s Skyler Hickman won the top spot by defeating Legrand in his decision 14-6 in the majors.
Xander Flowers (285) won the first two rounds by forfeit and pin before losing to runner-up Jacob Ased to finish in fourth place. Flowers defeated Centennial’s Cristian Haro his Torres 3–1 for him, and in the final match TofÃa Oarilfluen he lost 4–1.
Robert Minden (144) defeated Cofa’s Jose Rodriguez 4-2 to finish the tournament in fifth place. Minden won his first match of the day before falling to eventual winner Colby Ryan. In the consolation bracket, he won his next two games by decision before falling from Horizon to No. 3 Matthew Hernandez.
The state-qualified knight was Tanner Bentley (106), who won two and lost two. Josue Aguilar (132) he was 1-2. Andon Attaway (157) finished the tournament he finished 0-2.
As a team, the men finished with 52 points.
The Knights’ lone female qualifier, Laci Munoz, lost to Campo Verde’s Becca Hodges, 8-2 decision. Muñoz finished the season 21-7.
