An Ohio high school principal was placed on paid administrative leave Thursday for writing a staff newsletter lamenting President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory.
Olentangy Orange High School Principal Monica Asher made her dislike of President Trump clear in a message to faculty and staff obtained by authorities. classroom crisis (CITC). “You can’t write a message like the election never happened, especially when so many people are struggling with how to move forward,” Usher wrote. “I understand that you struggle with how to move forward with students who are afraid of you, and how to move forward with colleagues who don’t agree with you.”
Asher went on to write that Olentangy Orange employees must come together and “act like a buffalo in a storm” to deal with the election results.
“There’s a lot I don’t know, but here’s what I do know…I know our building is full of people who love kids and want to make a difference.” Usher wrote in a newsletter obtained by CITC. “Come with me like a buffalo through a storm.”

The Olentangy Regional School District said it internally referenced Asher’s newsletter in a statement to CITC about the incident.
The spokesperson highlighted the Olentangy Board of Education’s Employee Ethics Policy, which states that “all professional staff members maintain high standards in their working relationships and professional performance and adhere to non-partisan I hope that he will not use his position for political purposes.” ”
