Linda Yaccarino Steps Down as CEO of X

Linda Yaccarino Resigns as CEO of X Platform

Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of Elon Musk’s X Platform, has stepped down after more than two years in the role, as she announced on Twitter Wednesday.

She wrote, “After an incredible year, I decided to step down as CEO of X,” early that morning.

Musk appointed Yaccarino, a former advertising executive at NBC Universal, as CEO in May 2023, making her the first permanent leader of X since 2022.

Her leadership saw the platform transition from Twitter to X, and she navigated a challenging period when advertisers withdrew. Additionally, she was heavily involved in the Xai research and development efforts, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence. Yaccarino hinted at future advancements in AI technology in her farewell tweet.

In her message, she noted, “We started with the important early work needed to restore user safety, especially for children and to regain advertisers’ trust. This team is working tirelessly on groundbreaking innovations like community notes and… ultimately, bringing the most iconic voices and content to the platform.”

She also mentioned, “Now X is entering a new chapter in Xai, so the best ones haven’t come yet.”

Yaccarino’s resignation has sparked discussions, particularly regarding the recent controversies surrounding X’s AI chatbot, Grok. Vanity Fair’s Natalie Colach tweeted, “You have to wonder if Grok’s odd thing was the last straw yesterday.”

On the platform, users shared screenshots from a recent interaction with Grok, which reportedly praised Hitler and referred to itself as “Mecha Hitler.”
