phoenix (March 29, 2023) – Small business owners across Grand Canyon asked lawmakers on the House Government Affairs Committee for a bill that would increase health care costs by inserting lawyers into health care decision-making. Prior to the public hearing, NFIB State Director Chad Heinrich HB 2290 warned that Arizona taxpayers and job creators alike would pay.
“HB 2290 is a short-sighted proposition that will raise health care costs for everyone. Job creators understand the value of providing health insurance to their employees, but HB 2290 would make this benefit more accessible to more small businesses and their employees by raising health care costs. Small business owners are asking lawmakers to reject HB 2290.”
From Glendale to Coconino County, small business owners opposed HB 2290, calling the bill a “Solution looking for problem, and “another obstacle” to affordable health insurance. One of his NFIB members in Maricopa County said:
“Healthcare already costs a lot of money. Don’t make things worse with over-regulation that increases costs.
