A lockdown was lifted on Gilaridge High School and the surrounding area after police detained a suspected shooter in the Yuma High School parking lot.
Yuma police, who were searching for a suspect who fled on foot after opening fire in the parking lot of Gilleridge High School early Monday morning, asked people to evacuate the area.
No injuries have been reported. The Yuma Police Department has asked people to stay clear of the area while police attempt to locate the subject.
The Yuma Police Department issued a video statement around 11 a.m. noting that two students were injured, but not from gunshot wounds.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, Arizona Western College asked students to take shelter, lock down, and stay away from the Yuma campus. The college is located near the high school campus where the shooting took place. Their lockdown was lifted shortly after 11am and Monday classes were either canceled or switched to online platforms.
The Yuma Police Department has one suspect in custody and is believed to have identified a second suspect.
