Maddow, Stormy Daniels Awkwardly Role Play Her Testimony From Trump’s Trial

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and porn star Stormy Daniels awkwardly role-played Daniels' testimony at former President Donald Trump's New York trial Tuesday night.

Daniels appeared on “The Rachel Maddow Show” to discuss her role in the lawsuit against Trump brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. During her exclusive interview with Daniels, Maddow addressed the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on President Trump's immunity appeal, which ruled that a president in office is immune from criminal prosecution for “official duties.”

The MSNBC host told Daniels that Trump's new appeal of the New York case would be based on her testimony, then retrieved a copy of the recording for the porn actress to read aloud. (RELATED: CNN expert says Supreme Court immunity decision could impact evidence used in Alvin Bragg case)

“The details of that testimony will be the basis of Mr. Trump's appeal. He will appeal the decision not to declare a mistrial. That will be how he tries to avoid conviction. Can you go through that test? Can you go through that test with me right now? There are no cameras in the courtroom, no one is seeing it,” Maddow said.

“Yes,” Daniels replied.

“I've printed out the transcript for that section. Is this weird? Is this OK?” Maddow asked before handing over the documents.

“I've done a lot weirder stuff, trust me,” Daniels teased, and the two laughed.

“That's exactly what I ran into,” Maddow said, laughing.

The two continued to reenact the statements they'd made in court, with Daniels reading from her testimony and Maddow reading lines from the prosecutors, with Maddow and Daniels alternating lines and the MSNBC host pausing at times to elaborate on how Daniels was feeling as she described the alleged scene with the former president.

Trump was convicted by a jury on May 30 of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records through the payment of confidentiality payments to Daniels. Trump's sentencing was originally scheduled for July 11, but Judge Juan Marchan, presiding over the Supreme Court ruling, announced that Trump's sentencing date would be postponed to September 18.
