The Northern Arizona track and field teams competed on the second day of a busy week in California, competing at Brian Clay Invitational in Azusa, California and Pacific Coast Intercollegia in Long Beach, California.
Magin Codon’s The 800m school and Big Sky Conference records highlighted five new all-time top 10 marks from distance runners.
Brian Clay Invitational Summary
Magincon He broke Northern Arizona and the Big Sky Conference records in the 800 metres, hitting 2:00.27 hours. She breaks the Angela Chalmers school record of 2:03.52, which has been around since 1987, and the Big Sky record of 2:02.95, which has been around since 2011.
Plus, she had a personal best of over 5 seconds, crushing the fourth best in NAU history: 05.38. She finished just a second overall on the field and finished behind LSU’s Michaela Rose, who ran 2:00.22.
Odessa Zenz and Kiki Vaughn Both appeared on the NAU’s Top 10 History list at the 800m. Zentz ran his personal best and crossed the line at 2:06.75, ranking eighth in program history. In her outdoor debut, freshman Vaughn finished 10th with a 2:08.24th everytime.
Drew Bosley He competed in the first outdoor 5,000m from the 2022 season, earning his personal best of 8 seconds, and recorded 13:17.06, moving from 8th to 5th on NAU’s all-time list. David Mararchy Running the first outdoor 5,000 meters of his Northern Arizona career at 13:29.55 hours, suitable for 10th Always in the history of the program.
A handful of lumberjacks also set personal vests at 5,000 meters for men Santiago Proser (13:35.94), Justin Keys (13:37.90), Aidampuff (13:48.14), emanual Perez (13:52.62) and Randy Espinosa (14:01.59).
On the side of the women, Alexis Kebbe He crossed the line at 16:28.50 just after her personal best at 5,000 meters.
Pacific Coast Comprehensive Summary
The pitchers competed at Pacific Coast Intercalesia in Long Beach, California.
Nicholas Strait I threw two personal vests starting at 51.09 metres of hammer throws and 49.92 metres on the discus. Amar Elmore He was the top finisher for Discus’s NAU, and recorded his personal best of 50.83 meters.
Woman’s hammer throw, Sariyah Horne-Kemp He advanced to the final and finished 9th overall with a 58.32m toss. She was also Now’s only competitor to throw 48.18 metres.
Northern Arizona will be split into three tournaments tomorrow. Distance runners, jumpers and sprinters round out their action at the Brian Clay Invitational, while the throwers begin day one of the Beach Invitational.
