YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Central Library hosted a Secret Code Friendship Bracelet event Saturday afternoon.
This helps teach kids binary code and morse code by having them write secret messages on the bracelet.
The event started at 3:00pm and lasted until 4:00pm.
Youth Services Librarian Elia Juarez explained the importance of the event.
“Anytime there’s a chance for kids to get together and make new friends, and with the economy in this situation, I think free stuff is always a bonus. So we want to be a place, a place to meet new people. And it’s a place where you can be a little more creative,” Juarez said.
The event is part of the library’s summer reading program, and this year’s theme is Friendship. Not only that, the tagline for this year’s program is “All Together Now.” This program integrates friendship and unity with learning and science.
13 On Your Side Anchor Laura Aronson is set to make a bracelet.
