Three people were charged on January 8 with abusing a 2-year-old girl who was found bound with duct tape by a maintenance worker at a home in Houston, Texas, in November, according to reports.
Kenley Joseph Flukers, Tonyesha Desha Perkins and Mya Jari Breaux-Magruder say two maintenance workers who had been called to the residence to repair a dishwasher found the child with duct tape secured to its ankles. There were reportedly five other children at the residence, all of whom appeared to be in good health.
Perkins and her boyfriend, twins Flukers, reportedly said they witnessed the girl's parents tying her up and then removing the tape and seeing her “jump out” or “hoohoo.” However, Perkins allegedly instructed one of the twins to tell investigators that he and his brother liked to duct tape each other and that he had duct-taped girls as well. Fluker and others reportedly told investigators that the girl refused food she was given and then snuck into the refrigerator, pantry and trash can, where she was secured with duct tape. One of the twins told investigators that the girl “can't eat any of our food because she wastes it, and if she wastes it, she can't eat any more.” He is said to have given a statement.
The infant could not speak, but ABC13 News reported. The three suspects have reportedly lived at the residence for three months and are being held on a combined bond of nearly $500,000 on the charges.
