Major NFL Team Faces Misfortune as New Quarterback is Taken Off the Field on a Stretcher

New York Jets’ Justin Fields Suffers Injury During Training

Here’s another instance of an NFL team struggling to get it together.

And the season hasn’t even kicked off yet!

During a recent training session, New York Jets’ newly acquired quarterback Justin Fields had to be helped off the field after an incident with a teammate.

Fields had just thrown an incomplete pass to tight end Jeremy Ruckert when he fell awkwardly. He sat on the grass for a few moments, clearly in discomfort, before a trainer escorted him off the field, limping.

After spending some time in the injury tent, he was carried to the locker room, but thankfully, he made it to the team facility on his own afterward.

What a frustrating way for him to start.

More recent updates indicate that Fields may have suffered a dislocated toe from the incident.

Having just come off a season where the Jets managed only one win in the AFC East, finishing with a 5-12 record, they were likely hoping for a smoother start this year.

Things seemed to be looking up when Fields signed a two-year, $40 million deal after spending last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. There were high expectations for him to take the starting position with the Jets.

Just the other day, Fields said he assumed securing his role would be pretty straightforward…

He didn’t think he’d have to worry about fighting for his spot, unlike the competition he faced last year with Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh.

“I don’t think there’s much to worry about,” he stated after the team’s first camp practice, sounding optimistic. “Last year was different—strange, even—but it’s good to have clarity. You can just focus on improving and leading.”

Can Fields still feel that way now?

Here’s hoping he recovers quickly and is ready for the season ahead. It’s a reminder that sometimes, it’s best to not speak too soon.
