Majority Leader Stadthagen commends colleagues for approving the ‘Alabama Values’ plan

Alabama House GOP Advances “Value of Alabama” Agenda

Scott Stadhagen, the Alabama Republican House Majority Leader, expressed his support for the state’s Republican Caucus on Monday, celebrating the passage of most elements of the “Value of Alabama” agenda.

This agenda encompasses a range of conservative initiatives that had been prioritized for the 2025 legislative session.

“The ‘Alabama Values’ agenda reflects the conservative beliefs held by many Alabamians, and Republicans have put in considerable effort to realize these goals,” Stadhagen remarked. “We’re addressing crime, tackling illegal immigration, reducing taxes, enhancing education, and more. Republican leaders have shown tremendous commitment to making Alabama even better.”

The agenda was crafted by the Republican House Ad Hoc Platform Committee, led by state legislators Kelly “Bubba” Underwood and James Lomax.

Key components of the 2025 Republican “Alabama Values” agenda include:

  • Work Ethics and Job Creation – This includes initiatives aimed at fostering employment and boosting economic growth, particularly through energy projects that facilitate job creation, particularly in rural locales.
  • Border Protection – Collaborating with both the House and Senate, measures were introduced to combat illegal immigration, echoing federal efforts from the Trump administration, including legislation that classifies human trafficking offenses related to illegal immigrants.
  • Honest Elections – With Alabama’s robust election protections, the need for maintaining integrity in voting remains critical. New laws were established to codify the state’s voter ID database and restrict the use of foreign driver’s licenses for identification at the polls.
  • Public Safety – To enhance safety, the “Blue Protection Act” offers legal immunity to law enforcement officers acting within departmental guidelines, while other measures expedite process in the judicial system regarding sex offenders.
  • Public Education – The budget increase for education demonstrates a commitment to providing comprehensive education options for Alabamians. A new law prohibits students from using electronic devices during school hours, while also emphasizing essential life skills and career readiness.
  • Support for Military and Veterans – A series of laws were enacted to ensure Alabama remains a supportive state for active duty service members and veterans, including establishing a resource center that assists with vocational training and mental health services.
  • Pro-Life and Family Support – Upholding its pro-life values, Alabama passed laws to eliminate state taxes on essential items for children while also reducing sales taxes on food, aiming to facilitate family growth.
  • Common Sense Legislation – Initiatives against so-called “woke” policies have been introduced as part of legislation reaffirming biological definitions of gender.

Additional representatives involved in the agenda-setting process include Cynthia Almond, Susan Dubose, Steve Hearst, Jamie Kiel, Paul Lee, Lett Marquise, and Marcus Paramore.
