‘Make California Golden Again’: Former Fox News Host Announces Bid For Governor

Former Fox News host Steve Hilton announced on social media that he is running for California governor as a Republican post April 21st.

In his announcement to X, Hilton wrote that it was “time to make California golden again.” He emphasized the need for “balance” and “practical policies” 10 and a half years after the state’s “one-party Democratic rule.”

“I don’t think there’s anything better than California, but I think everyone can see things getting back on track,” Hilton told NPR. Hilton, a native of England, has lived in California with his family for about 14 years. He hosted “The Next Revolution” from 2017 to 2023 and previously on Fox News. “The best place to start, A is just looking at the data. Look at the numbers. And if we say there are states, the one with the highest housing costs in one state in the US is a much higher tax, how did that happen?” Hilton told NPR. “And my answer, to look at it, is something I think a lot of people on the political spectrum would agree.

Apart from living expenses and taxes, Hilton advocated Bay Area corporate conglomerates as one of California’s struggles.

Kamala Harris is reportedly going to decide whether to participate in the California governor race by the end of the summer. Hilton said that because of her national reach of attention in Golden State, Harris will become “the great opponent to face.”

“She had a lot of attention to the races and problems that California faced,” Hilton said in an interview with NPR. “And I think it’s important that we can really seriously discuss policy about how things can turn around and make California the way it should be.

The most recent Republican to win the election as California governor was Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006. backing GOP presidential candidate in 1988.

Hilton did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
