Man, 27, arrested in graffiti tagging across Oro Valley

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with vandalism in Oro Valley after a two-year investigation, police said.

Kieran Mercer, 27, was taken into custody Thursday at his Mount Bigelow Drive home following an incident involving the Oro Valley Police, State Gang Task Force, Union Pacific Railroad Police and Tucson Police.

Mercer was incarcerated in the Pima County Jail on suspicion of participating in or assisting in criminal street gangs, drug offenses, criminal damages exceeding $10,000, and criminal damages exceeding $2,000, according to a news release from the Oro Valley Police Department.

Some of the vandalism police associated with Mercer had the word “goof” associated with it. Accidents ranged in size from a small stop sign tag to a large section of damage over 30 feet, police said. In one instance, a railroad tank car was graffitied, the news release said.
