A Mojave Valley man was arrested last week, nearly three months after he was first arrested on child pornography-related charges. He currently remains free from custody on his own recognizance as he awaits trial in Mojave Superior Court.
Aaron L. Perlin, 42, was arrested in Lake Havasu City on Nov. 30 after the Mohave County Sheriff's Office concluded an investigation into Perlin that began in September.
Initial reports from law enforcement officials said county investigators were alerted by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. According to that information, Perlin's personal email account is believed to have contained media files depicting child sexual abuse.
Detectives contacted Perlin at Havasu's workplace on Nov. 30 and questioned him. Perlin was eventually taken into custody and search warrants were executed at multiple locations associated with Perlin.
Charges against Perlin were initially dismissed by county prosecutors, but were ultimately reinstated earlier this month. Perlin was arraigned in the case on January 18th. According to court documents, the court did not believe that bail or other conditions of release were necessary to ensure Mr. Perlin's attendance at trial.
Perlin's next scheduled court appearance is scheduled for February 15 at a pretrial conference in Mojave Superior Court.
