The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that a suspect in connection with the 2008 sexual assault of a minor had been arrested.
According to court documents, Alexander Zzeczycki, 33, is accused of intentionally or knowingly having sex with a minor between June 20 and June 21, 2008.
In a release, the MCSO said it received a report in 2008 that a 13-year-old girl was lured into her bedroom by two drunken men and sexually assaulted.
The victim told MCSO that an acquaintance of a 17-year-old man intervened on her behalf and stopped the assault. Gave.
Detectives interviewed the victim, the 17-year-old boy, and the party organizer around the time of the initial report, and asked the victim to participate in a forensic examination.
According to the MCSO, the test recorded numerous injuries consistent with the disclosed sexual assault, but the victim was unwilling to participate in further investigations and there was a lack of information about the suspect. As a result, the case was stopped in 2009.
In 2017, forensic evidence from this case was submitted for analysis as part of the Sexual Assault Kits Initiative Grant, which provided additional funding to process untested kits.

In 2018, results came back indicating that a man’s DNA was found in one of the pieces of evidence. The DNA was then entered into the database of the Combined DNA Indexing System, and Rzeczycki found a possible match, according to the MCSO.
Upon a match, the MCSO reopened the case and utilized Special Victims Unit investigators who sought to track down both the victim and Rzeczycki.
During an investigation, it was later determined that the victim had died in May 2015.
The MCSO continued its investigation and received an arrest warrant for Rzeczycki after consulting with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
On May 3, 2023, Rzeczycki was found and arrested by the MCSO Fugitive Arrest Tactical Enforcement Unit. He was later put in prison and faces one count of sexual conduct with a minor, a class 2 felony.
