Man Beats Grandfather With Golf Clubs and Uses Wasp Spray on Injuries

Incident in Davenport Leads to Arrest of Iowa Man

An Iowa man was arrested following reports of domestic violence involving his grandfather, where a golf club was used as a weapon and a wasp spray was sprayed on the victim’s injuries.

On Monday, police responded to calls about domestic interference in Davenport and discovered a 71-year-old man in a basement. He had visible trauma to his body and head, according to reports. The victim explained to officers that his 38-year-old grandson, Joshua Lagan, assaulted him by hitting him in the back of the head and then pushing him against a wall.

Authorities reported that Lagan allegedly struck his grandfather multiple times with a golf club and, while the elder man was on the floor, sprayed him with hornet spray to aggravate his injuries. At one point during the altercation, Lagan reportedly threatened to electrocute his grandfather. The police noted that the grandfather saw Lagan recover three firearms from the residence.

It appears the grandfather was unable to contact the authorities for about three hours since Lagan had turned off his phone, as informed by law police. During questioning, Lagan allegedly admitted to the attack and the subsequent use of the wasp spray.

After sustaining injuries from the confrontation, Lagan was taken to a hospital for treatment of facial injuries, broken ribs, and other ailments requiring stitches.

He now faces several charges, including assault, false imprisonment, and felony possession of firearms. His bail is set at $25,000. As of now, Davenport police haven’t responded to requests for further comment.
