YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A 28-year-old man was driving his 2023 Dodge Charger recklessly when he lost control and crashed into a house with seven people in it.
According to the Yuma Police Department (YPD), officers heard tires screeching and saw a vehicle driving recklessly on Tuesday evening.
Officers made a U-turn but were waved at by witnesses, pointing out that there had been a clash near 7th Avenue and South 20th Avenue.
Yuma police said they located the 28-year-old driver, arrested him, and charged him with felonies including dangerous behavior and reckless driving.
A 29-year-old woman was also in the car, but neither the driver nor the passenger was injured.
Yuma police said seven people in the house, ranging in age from 1 to 53, were killed.
There were no reports of injuries from members of the household, and the Red Cross was called to assist the evacuated family.
Yuma police said alcohol did not appear to be a factor at this time and the incident was still under investigation.
