Man dies after falling in Salt River

MESA, Arizona — A man has died after falling into the Salt River near Pebble Beach, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

According to early reports, around 11:50 am, Lake Patrol agents were called to the area following reports that a man had fallen out of his kayak and had not resurfaced.

The man was pulled out of the water by three other kayakers in the area and began applying first aid on the shoreline. Lake patrol personnel arrived and administered first aid, but medical personnel declared the man dead at the scene.

Detectives are now working to find out more about what happened, according to the MCSO.

Authorities have not identified the man at this time. It is currently unknown whether the man drowned or died of another cause. It is also unclear whether the disability was involved in the incident.
