GOLDEN VALLEY (KTNV) — A man has died after setting multiple fires in Golden Valley and walking into a carport he had set on fire.
According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at 7:03 p.m. Friday when dispatch received a report of a fire in the 3800 block of North Abra Road.
When officers arrived, they found a home and several vehicles on fire and a man walking around the property. Witnesses told deputies the man started several small fires, which caused much of the property to go up in flames.
When firefighters arrived, the man “displayed a weapon,” and firefighters safely left the scene. SWAT and detectives were called to the scene and the man was asked to show his hands. Instead, the man refused, entered the carport and set the carport on fire, deputies said. He was later found dead.
The man's identity is being withheld pending identification by the Mohave County Coroner's Office.
No further details had been released as of Monday morning.
