A tragic incident occurred at a remote resort near Yuma, Arizona, where a man drowned while attempting to rescue two children.
The man, identified as Jeff Brady, was swimming to assist the children who had drifted away from the shallow areas of a sandbar. Although he managed to bring the kids back to safety, he could not return himself.
“On July 5, 2025, Jeff Brady made the ultimate sacrifice, saving two young boys, ages 10 and 12, from drowning in the river. He didn’t hesitate; he acted instinctively,” a relative shared. It’s noteworthy that the boys were nephews of Brady’s girlfriend.
“It’s crazy, really. If those boys hadn’t had life jackets, who knows what might have happened?” said Kevin Brady, Jeff’s nephew.
The dive team promptly began searching for Jeff upon arrival, according to the sheriff’s office. Teams from the Sheriff’s Office, Border Patrol, and Yuma Police collaborated on the underwater search, with air crews also involved.
After several hours, his body was found at around 7:20 PM.
Kevin Brady remarked, “He just jumped in and kicked those boys out of the water, knowing he might not make it back. That really shows his character.”
In support of Brady’s family, a GoFundMe page has been set up for donations.
The case remains under investigation.
