A Michigan gas station employee was hospitalized with first-degree burns Monday after a man allegedly tried to set the station on fire.
The incident occurred at a Sunoko gas station, where a 35-year-old suspect spilled a trash can containing gasoline and set it on fire with a torch, Fox 2 Detroit. report. (Related: Arsonist fire trapped inside vape shop, woman narrowly escapes burns)

The suspect entered the station, paid cash, and went outside to put gas in a trash can. Afterwards, he returned to the gas station with a torch and a trash can and dumped it at the front door. Wilkes.
The suspect set fire to the entrance with a torch after he and the store clerk exchanged words, the newspaper said.
Fox 2 Detroit said the 27-year-old clerk ran through the fire and escaped, suffering first-degree burns in the process.
Detroit police arrested the suspect early Tuesday morning, according to the report.
