Graham County – A man was taken to an out-of-area hospital for surgery on Wednesday, Oct. 26, after being shot in the face with a shotgun in a hunting accident.
The victim was out quail hunting with a friend when a quail jumped out of the bushes, according to a Graham County Sheriff’s Office report. A friend of the victim, not knowing where the victim was, opened fire and accidentally shot him.
The victim reportedly had pellet holes in his face, right arm, and chest. Some of the pellets were so close to the victim’s nerves that he was taken from the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center to another hospital for more specialized surgery.
The incident was listed as a hunting accident and no further action was taken by law enforcement. If it sounds familiar, it’s caused by former Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shooting his Whittington in the face and left side of the torso with a pellet in a quail hunting accident in February 2006. could be.
