Man, woman arrested after drugs and weapons found during traffic stop in Casa Grande

Casa Grande, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) – Casagrande police say a man and a woman were arrested after drugs and a weapon were found inside their vehicle during a traffic stop on Sunday morning.

Around 8:00 a.m., officers pulled up near 6th Avenue and Florence Boulevard, just east of Pinal Avenue. A search of the car found approximately seven pounds of methamphetamine, 1.9 grams of cocaine, three of his loaded handguns, nearly $5,000 in cash and $119,000 in checks. Joey Mata, 37, and Brennon Pincus Magana, 45, were arrested at the scene.

Investigators have discovered Mata is a convicted felon with an extensive criminal record and is currently out on bail in Pinal County for attempted murder and participation in a criminal street gang. incarcerated and face a variety of charges, including possession of dangerous drugs for sale, transportation of dangerous drugs, illegal activities involving weapons, and money laundering.
